It's more than a tick in the box. It's the individualised plan you need to get back to exercise and feeling like yourself.
What is included in the Mummy MOT?
Pregnancy and childbirth can place significant demands on the body, yet many women receive very little guidance on how to recover safely and confidently afterwards.
A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal assessment designed to help you better understand your pelvic health, identify how your body is functioning after birth, and provide you with a clear, step-by-step recovery plan tailored to your lifestyle and goals.
During your Mummy MOT, we will discuss your pregnancy and birth experience, any symptoms you may be experiencing, and your personal recovery goals. Your physical assessment will be guided by this conversation and can include:
• A full postural assessment
• Functional movement and breathing analysis
• Examination of your pelvic floor muscles
• Assessment of your abdominal muscles, including measurement of any separation (diastasis recti)
• Screening for bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction
• Scar assessment and management for C-section scars, tears or episiotomy healing
• Education and advice on lifting, feeding, carrying and pushing a buggy
• A personalised postnatal rehabilitation programme tailored to your needs
• A bespoke return to exercise or return to sport plan
Following your assessment, you will receive practical advice to help manage any sympto along with exercises you can begin immediately. A detailed written report will also be provided after your consultation.
For many women, around 6 weeks after delivery is an ideal time to book a Mummy MOT. However, it can be beneficial at any stage after childbirth, no matter if your baby is 6 weeks or 6 years old, especially if you are experiencing symptoms or would like professional support and reassurance.
Pregnancy and childbirth are life-changing experiences, and taking care of yourself is essential for both your physical recovery and emotional wellbeing.
